The problem
With a long history of designing, manufacturing and delivering high-quality educational furniture in the UK, our client’s commitment to sustainability required a more environmentally friendly adhesive application system.
There were also potential health and safety issues from long-term exposure to dichloromethane and gases present in the aerosol adhesive.
These concerns pointed towards a solvent-free hotmelt alternative, but although solvent-based adhesives are considered to give better performance, they had been having problems with the aerosol glue. Could they find an adhesive that was safer and stronger?
Our solution
One challenge the client was facing was bond failure between the carpet and decking. Adkwik recommended Timbond H509 Hotmelt Adhesive as an ideal solution. With its high-strength performance and a Meler B4 hotmelt spray application system also supplied by Adkwik, this adhesive easily outperforms the aerosol.
Another challenge they encountered was a harsh glue line appearing on table edging. Adkwik responded with intensive testing and quality control checks until they resolved the issue and were satisfied that the client was consistently achieving the same results in their factory.
The result
Timbond H509 and the spray application system became not only a safer process for health and the environment but also a cost-saver. Payback on the initial investment was achieved by a very satisfied customer within a short period.
The result? A very satisfied customer:
“They came up with a solution and since then, we haven’t had one failure. The product has met expectations and probably surpassed expectations. The adhesive has given us no failures, is environmentally friendly, and also the orders are delivered next-day.”
“My experiences with Adkwik have been absolutely fantastic. The team has always responded to our needs immediately and the goods that they supply are always superb quality.”
