So when one of the UK’s leading horsebox manufacturers came to us with a rubber bonding challenge, we knew we had the answer.

The Problem

The contact adhesive they were using to bond the rubber matting floor to their horse boxes and ramps was failing. It wasn’t durable enough to withstand the repeated exposure to horse waste and chemicals used to clean the horse boxes.

This was causing extensive reputational damage to their brand and worldwide reputation for quality. They needed a solution fast.

After looking into the problem we knew exactly what to suggest and recommended they switch to the high performance Tytex Industrial PU adhesive. This revolutionary, high performance plasticizer resistant adhesive is used extensively in the automotive industry to bond materials like vinyl, rubber, leathers and plastics. Its durability meant it was ideal for horse boxes and anything our four-legged friends could throw at it.

We were very confident Tytex would provide the strong, lasting bond needed to fix the rubber matting to both the extruded aluminium subfloor and the GRP composite panels. It’s also very easy to apply making it a simple solution they could adopt very quickly.

Tytex Industrial Clear PU Spray adhesive was the perfect glue for bonding rubber in this situation because:

  • It’s waterproof so can withstand exposure to the elements and repeated cleaning down.
  • It is 100% resistant to delamination caused by plasticiser migration so retains integrity even under harsh conditions.
  • High temperature resistance of up to 160°C means it can cope with any extremes of weather anywhere in the world.
  • Very high solids. It provides the very strong structural bond needed when dealing with the wear and tear horseboxes get.
  • Super smooth web spray for easy application.
