Safer...

Could you eliminate solvents
in your factory?

You need to tick all the boxes with HSE.

Are hazardous glues causing you problems? Do you want to reduce the use of harmful solvents in your factory?

Or maybe the HSE have made a visit with some action points you need to resolve…

Finding a safer alternative can be a challenge when Health & Safety impose challenging guidelines. Working through them without jeopardising your production process is important.

HSE state the following about adhesives containing dichloromethane (DCM):

  • ‘At high concentrations DCM can cause death.’
  • ‘DCM-based products should ONLY be used in well ventilated areas, to prevent the build-up of vapour.’
  • ‘DCM is suspected of causing cancer.’
  • ‘DCM can be absorbed through the skin and cause irritation.’

With our hotmelt system it removes the worry and the cost that comes with spray booths, extraction and PPE.

Why is it Safer?

  • 100% Solvent Free.
  • 0% emissions/ VOC.
  • No requirement for extraction system or Spray booths nor their costly maintenance.
  • No need for masks or PPE.
  • Non-flammable.
  • No hazardous waste disposal.

Faster...

Could you produce in
half the time?

Make it quick with a one way stick.

With the rapid raptor handy applicator the accurate amount of glue coverage and a one sided stick, is a true recipe for streamlining production.

Usually applications with solvent based glues and waterbased glues require a two way stick, applying glue to both surfaces and bringing these together. With the hotmelt system most applications only require a one way stick *(i.e. applying the glue to one surface).

The hotmelt machine is compact in size and completely mobile, allowing it to be easily moved around in your factory.  The rapid application allows you to bond many materials quickly (such as foam and fabrics) resulting in reduced production times.

Why is it faster?

  • Accurate glue application, no down time clearing up overspray.
  • Speed up production with a one way stick*.
  • Fast Spray application bond to many materials.
  • Mobile system for your factory.

Cost Effective...

Could you reduce your
glue consumption?

A safer glue doesn’t have to increase the cost of your production. Save 60% on glue consumption.

Being cost effective doesn’t just mean the cost of the glue, instead it includes the whole process.

With a one way stick and a applicator gun which allows you to control the flow of the glue and amount applied. This means you have no messy overspray and no wasted glue.

Typical glue applications such as solvent based spray glue or water-based glues use vast amounts more glue vs the hotmelt system, this 100% solid hotmelt glue goes a lot further. You will be surprised at how much less you use!

With this application and glue there is no longer a requirement for PPE, an extraction system, or spray booths removing the costly maintenance and ongoing expenditure.

Why is it more cost effective?

  • 100% solid glue. No more paying for propellants to make your glue spray.
  • One way stick instead of two way stick resulting in half the amount of glue used.
  • A lower glue consumption.
  • No cost of Spray booths, PPE, extraction systems.
  • No cost to dispose of hazardous containers.

Customer Scenarios

We have recently had a visit from HSE and they have advised we need to remove solvent-based glue from our process, will your hotmelt system be suitable?

The hotmelt system is an ideal alternative to solvent-based glues however we would need to discuss what materials you are bonding and how often. Please give us a on 01223 412373 to talk this through and next steps.

We are currently using a solvent based glue, spraying the glue with a gun and hose system in our spray booths for a foam to fabric application. What is the difference to your hotmelt spray system?

Overall, the hotmelt system is a faster, safer and more cost-effective way of applying glue to foam and fabric.

  1. Our hotmelt glue is water based 100% solvent free and you are purchasing a 100% solid glue. Meaning no cost for the propellant like you current system.
  2. There is no requirement for a spray booth, which will significantly reduce costs as no need to maintain the spray booth such as replacing its filters.
  3. Limited PPE required as before you would have needed cover and face masks.
  4. One way application, no longer a 2-way application spraying both surfaces, meaning it’s faster and more cost effective with less glue used.
  5. No disposal of aerosols, canisters or barrels of glues.

We are currently using hand-held aerosol cans for upholstery applications and have 10 team members with their own aerosol cans, is the hotmelt system an option for us?

You may require a change of process so the team can use the machine at different times, or you may need multiple machines.

Contact us to discuss your current glue process. Using the machines will mean there is less waste, no disposal of aerosols, and a 100% solvent free glue application. However we will discuss if it’s a practical solution for you and give recommendations.

We don’t currently have any health and safety concerns with our current adhesives, why is the hotmelt system safer?

If you have recently had a HSE check and not had any issues and have passed the tests, dependent on the glues you are currently using the hotmelt system is still going to be a safer option.

One example is solvent-based spray glues may pass safety requirements only because there is enough space in your factory, the correct equipment (such as a spray booths, extraction) and PPE in place to make it safer, but hotmelt glue is 100% solvent free and no PPE or spray booth is required, ultimately making the system a more cost effective option.

We are already using a spray contact glue which contains no harmful solvents and is dichloromethane free, why would the hotmelt system still be of benefit to us?

The hotmelt system is a faster, safer and more cost-effective way of applying glue. Below we explain further its benefits compared with a canister or aerosol glue…

  1. There will be less waste and no safe disposal canisters or aerosols required. Canisters and aerosols are also flammable. With a cardboard box of glue it isn’t as difficult to dispose of.
  2. When buying hotmelt glue you are buying a 100% solid glue, whereas a canister or aerosol you are paying for propellants to make the glue spray.
  3. Clients who are using the hotmelt system aren’t using anything like as much as glue as they used before (for a comparison of your current glue usage vs this, contact us to discuss).
  4. No upfront cost of a machine as it can be hired for as long as you require.

Do you feel like your glue consumption seems extremely high?

The efficient swirl pattern by the hotmelt system can significantly reduce glue consumption to allow you to be more cost effective.
