Looking beneath the surface
The development of modern materials such as Corian and other acrylic solid surface products has given designers an incredibly versatile material at their disposal. Adkwik can help you find the adhesive to match.
Vibrant colours, sinuous curves, and incredible thermoformability mean materials like Corian are often used at the cutting edge of design both inside and outside the house for furniture, cladding or lighting. These are incredibly durable, high quality materials that will keep their colour and visual appearance for decades without fading, are stain resistant, and have a seamless appearance between joints. They are in short, pretty good!
Whatever they are used for, solid surface materials come in a range of thicknesses and are often bonded to a backing board such as MDF, chipboard, or plywood for added strength and durability. This means they are ultimately only as good as the glue that binds them to the substrate, so it’s essential your chosen adhesive delivers an incredibly strong bond that is also extremely durable.

Adkwik supply a range of products that are tailor made for ensuring acrylic solid surface products are thoroughly bonded to the backboard material and won’t let you down.
• For fast, strong, instant bonds we recommend using a fast drying spray contact adhesive with good heat resistance such as Tensorgrip L12. Its tacky pressure-sensitive properties make it ideal for thick substrate bonding.
• For extremely strong bonds cartridge-based hybrid polymers such as Soudal MS Clear, Tytex Ultraclear MS Polymer adhesive sealant or Tytex 310ml PU (5 min or 30 min) are easy to apply and allow for positioning.
• For bonding of clamping blocks a hotmelt adhesive such as Stickfast High Strength 12mm glue sticks has a long open time and very strong adhesive power which gives excellent adhesion to most surfaces.
